At the Maidenhead Great Park demonstration on 14 December, asking our council to reject the environmentally damaging Borough Local Plan, Tina Quadrino welcomed everyone.

Thank you all for coming out again so soon after the last demonstration.
The reason that we are all here this evening is because the council made the rash decision to schedule an extraordinary full council meeting to vote on the Borough Local Plan, even though the plan has still not been deemed sound by the Planning Inspector. Given that this plan has been in development for such a long time, I am not quite sure what the rush is!
The BLP will now be scheduled to be discussed in the New Year.
After the Planning Inspector has actually sent it back to council and due process has been followed. This includes giving all councillors the opportunity to review the final draft properly before making their decision.
We know that many of you are getting ready for spending Christmas with your families after the disappointing situation last year. So, we are even more grateful that you have taken the time to come here tonight and show how you feel about this.
This evening’s proceedings will be very similar to last time in that we will have some speeches and we expect to be here for about an hour, and then we can all head home for some eggnog!
You are very welcome to come up and express your feelings at any point – although I ask that you are always polite and that you respect the fact that we have many children here this evening.
Tonight we will hear about how our green lung will mitigate the worst effects of climate change.
This includes air pollution and biodiversity loss. And how the loss of this space will impact future generations and why greenwashing is just not acceptable.
