Here’s some suggested wording for you to use:

Dear Cllr [insert name]

The petition asking the council to create Maidenhead Great Park on the green belt land currently leased by Maidenhead Golf Club, rather than develop it for housing, will be heard at an Extraordinary Council meeting to be held on Tuesday 2 March.

I was one of the 4,444 residents who signed the petition and I urge you to support our demand to keep this space green.

The golf course land provides important wildlife habitats, and many local people are concerned about the future of the wildlife that lives here.

The golf course is also a vital green lung for our town.  There are thousands of mature trees there. As well as absorbing carbon dioxide, and providing habitat for many birds, animals and insects, trees remove particulate matter from our air.

Access to greenspace is important for our physical and mental health and wellbeing. Our town is growing, and there’s a climate emergency, so we need this green lung and place for biodiversity more than ever.

Building on this greenspace will take away the opportunity to increase the role of this space for the health of our residents.

If it stays green, we could boost public health by increasing public access to this parkland.  We could better protect biodiversity and increase carbon capture through careful management, including tree planting and creating ponds.

Yours sincerely

  1. Dear Sir,

It is very disappointing the LA has decided to develop the land previously leased to Maidenhead golf course.
It was in the heart of the city and provides a lot of Oxygen to the people and biodiversity with different types of flora and fauna in the woodlands surrounding it.
It provides lungs to breathe for the city.
It is never more important to realise the importance of outdoor space for the people living in Maidenhead.
In the current covid situation, the outside space has been a great support for the people to unwind themselves.
I need your support to communicate with the LA regarding this issue.

    1. Dear Lakshmi

Thank you so much for that heart felt message. Did you write that to your local MP and / or local Cllr?

We will be posting the details of all the different Ward Cllrs in the coming weeks if that helps but if you do need any additional assistance from us then please do get back in touch.

      Thanks for your support.
